You are everything I can imagine
Yet nothing I can expect.
I can no longer transect this underwater mountain range,
Which no one else perceives,
Only to find that it goes on, forever.
There is no greater pain
Than smothering my words to you,
than withholding my arms from around you,
Than restraining my heart from loving you.
Yet I must.
And while I wait,
resolving emotions in case,
How I fear adjusting to frustration,
Habituating to your absence,
To discover that when my time does come,
I’ve extinguished love successfully.
